Molly Kent
Molly Kent, a textile artist, represents discussions of mental and physical health notions through the fabrication of rug tufting and tapestry weaving. Kent’s work portrays contemporary existence concerning social media and internet living while providing commentary regarding their effects on self-perception. Her practice emanates from personal experience of coming to terms with and living with CPTSD while reflecting on broader anxieties brought to life by the impact of COVID-19.
The work exhibited depicts a series of Kent’s own nightmare dreams experienced throughout 2021. Particular works contain links to traumatic incidents that led to her CPTSD diagnosis. Others explore new anxieties brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic, such as feeling trapped within a digital realm.
