    FANTASTIC RESPONSE TO THE SUMMER ART CHALLENGE 

     

    We have been bowled over by the response to this Summer’s Art Challenge, “Historic Dunfermline through the eyes of children”! We have received 99 artworks – so many that we were not sure we would have enough space on the walls for the exhibition, but they are now all up on display at the Community Gallery of Dunfermline Library & Galleries. The exhibition runs until 20th September 2026 and all are welcome.

    Summer Art Challenge Historic Dunfermline Through the Eyes of Children workshop with Royal Scottish Academy Director Colin Greenslade

    Summer Art Challenge Historic Dunfermline Through the Eyes of Children 

    A free summer art challenge for any children aged 5 - 12.  We are inviting young artists to explore and celebrate Dunfermline’s rich history through creativity. We would love to see how modern children percive and interpert the historic city they live in through their own creativity and imagination.  All entries will be  displayed in a public exhibition at Dunfermline Carnegie Library and Galleries.

     

    4 July 11am & 12pm

    Opening Event & Workshops

    The challenge will begin on 4 July with a special opening event featuring an introduction by Royal Scottish Academy Director Colin Greenslade, followed by an artist-led creative workshops for children.

    You can book your young artist into our workshop at Dunfermline Carnegie Library, and the 45 min sessions will be at 11am or 12pm.   

    The events are free, but booking is required.  To register please scan the QR code or email: info@cdhg.org.uk

     

     

     

    Children can use their own art materials or take advantage of free art kits thanks to funding by Fife Charities Trust for the Art Challenge.  Each child will receive a commemorative bookmark and certificate of participation.

    The City of Dunfermline Heritage Group is a volunteer-led charity founded in 2024. It is run by a dedicated board of trustees with a wide range of skills and experience.


    Although we are a young charity, we have already been involved in a variety of
    community projects, working alongside local authorities, other charities, and heritage organisations. Our work is all about bringing people together to explore, celebrate, and protect Dunfermline’s unique heritage and historic landscape.
