RSA200: Life Drawing Programme
Tutored Workshops with George Donald RSA
As part of the Royal Scottish Academy’s 200th anniversary celebrations throughout 2026, we are working with partners across Scotland and beyond to shine a spotlight on the Academy’s past, present and future.
Life Drawing is integral to the history of the RSA; fine art including life drawing was taught at the Academy’s Life School at The Mound in Edinburgh from the 1840s until the formation of Edinburgh College of Art in 1907. From there the Life School continued to function until 1930.
To highlight this, we are working with artist George Donald RSA to deliver a series of one-day life drawing classes during 2026 with our following RSA200 Celebrating Together Partners:
13 June: OutPost Arts - Gracefield Arts Centre, Dumfries
2 July: Hugo Burge Foundation - Rhymer’s Works, Earlston, Scottish Borders
13 August: An Tobar, Tobermory, Mull
15 August: An Ealdhain Arts Trust, Fort William, Inverness-shire
20 September: Shetland Arts - Mareel, Lerwick, Shetland
26 September: The Pier Arts Centre, Stromness, Orkney
