RSA Blackadder Houston Mid-Career Travel Award: Deadline has passed for 2023

    We are pleased to introduce the first RSA Blackadder Houston Mid-Career Travel Award (£5,000). The aim of this award is to enable a committed fine art painter to carry out research, development and production of a new body of work through a period of international travel.

     

    The award is funded by the Blackadder Houston Bequest and administered by the Royal Scottish Academy.

     

    We are delighted to announce Elaine Woo MacGregor as the winner of the inagural RSA Blackadder Houston Mid-Career Travel Award. Elaine will use the funds to travel to China.

    Eligibility

    • Entrants must be mid-career painters who are at least 15 years out of art school or can demonstrate at least 15 years of substantive practice.

    • The entrant's practice must be predominantly based in painting, this can be in any medium or subject.
    • Entrants must be born or currently living in Scotland (and have been for at least 3 years).

     

    How to apply

    • The application deadline has now passed for 2023. The next round of applications will be announced in autumn 2024.
