Looking West

The current display in the RSA Library is drawn from the Academy’s permanent collection. It explores the interest in the Celtic fringes of both Scotland and Brittany by Scottish artists of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. The display includes paintings, drawings, illustrated books and photographs, and it ranges from lithographs by James Drummond of the ancient tombstones on Iona to Anne Redpath’s memorable painting of the fisherman’s chapel of St Jean in Tréboul in western Brittany.
