An exhibition curated by Dr Tom Normand HRSA and Sandy Wood, RSA Collections Curator, to celebrate the publication of the new book Portfolio: Treasures from the Diploma Collection at the Royal Scottish Academy (Edinburgh: Luath Press, 2012)

"In Portfolio, art historian Tom Normand takes us on a journey into the vaults to rediscover a selection of paintings…from the 300 plus works in the Diploma Collection at the Royal Scottish Academy. Through this portfolio of some of the major works of leading Scottish artists, he offers an insightful new understanding of the Diploma Collection as 'a manifest expression of the extraordinary creativity of Scottish art'."

The exhibition will feature Diploma works and associated ephemera and archival material from the RSA collections, selected to illustrate some of the narratives discussed in Portfolio. As Tom Normand's title suggests there will be some real treasures on display.

In conjunction with the exhibition Tom Normand will be presenting his paper Royal Scottish Academy: Times of Change for the 2013 RSA Gillies Lecture at the Hawthornden Lecture Theatre, National Galleries of Scotland Complex.
7.30pm, Thursday 7th February 2013
Free but ticketed.
