Gordon Mitchell RSA
Gordon Mitchell RSA is a Scottish artist noted and respected for both his virtuosic hyper-realism and rich iconography.
Mitchell was born in 1952 and studied at Edinburgh College of Art (1970-1974) before going on to pursue a career in teaching. In 1989 he gave up teaching to devote more time to his practice. His work often involves visual puns depicted in finely-executed oil paintings. Mitchell's work is held in major institutional collections including the Scottish Arts Council, Royal Bank of Scotland and the University of Edinburgh.
