Robert Thorburn Ross RSA was a distinguished Scottish painter of domestic genre scenes. He trained under George Simson RSA and at the Trustees’ Academy under Sir William Allan RA PPRSA. He was, for many years, a regular and valued contributor to the Annual Exhibition.
He produced many works, mainly illustrative scenes, though he also produced several landscapes of sea-side views and incidents both in oil and watercolour.
