Arts Group RSA 200 Talk & Dinner

    6.30pm

The Caledonian Club's Arts Group will host an evening of celebration with Gareth Fisher PRSA & Sandy Wood, RSA Head of Collections.

As part of its RSA200 Celebrating Together project, and to mark the enduring relationship with The Caledonian Club, its Arts Group will host an evening with Gareth Fisher, RSA President and Sandy Wood, Head of Collections, who will speak on the significant role the Academy has played in shaping the Scottish nation’s cultural landscape.

Featuring a special introduction by Gareth Fisher on how its Academicians have played a significant role in the RSA, Wood will travel back to post-enlightenment Edinburgh tracing the path, as artists in Scotland took control of their destiny, shaping Scottish art over two centuries. As one of our nation’s leading independent arts institutions, Wood will explore how the RSA’s founding aims still shine through in the work it does today and with its cultural partners.

In 2014 the first loans from the RSA collections were made to The Caledonian Club, and this partnership continues in 2026 with further loans of work by David Simpson Foggie RSA and Henry John Lintott RSA.
