About

The deadline has now passed to submit to the 200th RSA Annual Exhibition. Final selection results are now live. Please log back into your submission account to view results.

The RSA Annual Exhibition is the largest and longest-running annual exhibition of contemporary art and architecture in Scotland. For two centuries it has captured art and architecture at a moment in time, reflecting the world as it has changed with the Industrial Revolution, two world wars, the invention of the telephone and the birth of the internet. It continues to provide a platform for contemporary painting, sculpture, film, printmaking, photography and installation, alongside work by some of the country’s leading architects.

On view from Saturday 9 May - Sunday 14 June 2026, the exhibition will showcase a diverse range of contemporary art and architecture from our Royal Scottish Academicians, invited exhibitors, plus artists and architects carefully selected from online open submissions.

The Open Architecture element aims to highlight some of the most stimulating, contemporary architectural practise across Scotland and beyond. Applications are welcomed from anyone making work in the broad field of architecure, including indivuduals, practices, collectectives and students and work may be in any suitable medium -models, drawings, collages, photography and film/animations etc.

This year’s architecture open call invites submissions responding to the theme Unbuilt. The Architecture Convenor Fergus Purdie RSA is asking for submissions focusing on unrealised projects, prototypes and research that explores new directions in architecture. We are looking for theoretical and experimental work that highlights innovative and pioneering approaches, helping to showcase the diverse lines of creative enquiry currently being developed by architects in Scotland and further afield.

All pre-selected works will again automatically be included in the online exhibition. As usual, only those selected at the final physical selection will be shown in the gallery. There is also the opportunity to submit work as a solely online presentation.
