Our collections tell the story of art and architecture, and collecting in Scotland from the 18th century to the present day. The collections are a living entity, connected to the RSA as an institution, its artists and its developing role in supporting, exhibiting and learning in the visual arts. The core Diploma Collection is unique; containing works self-selected by past and present Academicians on their election. It is the foundation of a diverse collection, which contains around 9,000 artworks, supported by an extensive archive and library.
