Amanda Levete founded AL_A in 2009, an architecture studio that is focused on creating spaces that promote reciprocity between nature and neighbourhood. Projects that express identity, reflect the ambitions of a place and the dreams of a community. Levete is a Royal Academician, has been recognised by a number of prestigious awards, and is renowned for landmark projects including the Museum of Art, Architecture and Technology in Lisbon, the Exhibition Road Quarter at London’s V&A Museum and the RIBA Stirling Prize-winning Media Centre at Lord’s Cricket Ground.
The Metzstein Discourse, inaugurated in 2014, is named after Professor Isi Metzstein OBE RSA, a hugely respected architect and teacher as well as former Treasurer of the RSA. Generations of students, both at the Mackintosh School of Architecture where he taught for most of his life, and at Edinburgh University where he was Professor and Head of Department, found him to be an unforgettable inspiration.
