My self portrait with hydrangeas was inspired by the beautiful flowers which bloom in our garden every September, and their ever-changing hues encouraged me to try to recreate their constant evolution. I wanted to also create a self portrait to capture the end of the sunny summer days I’d spent having fun in the garden & the wilderness, as these blooms would indicate the transition period into quieter autumn, & I wanted to challenge my art skills by drawing myself beside these intricate flowers.
