Marion Smith RSA's practice centres on creating site-specific commissions that embody a considered understanding of their environment. Working in a wide range of materials from a miniature to a monumental scale, Smith uses traditional skills in innovative ways.


In 2012 Marion Smith became the first woman to hold senior office at the Royal Scottish Academy when she was elected Secretary.


Born in Fife, Marion Smith RSA studied Sculpture at Gray's School of Art, Aberdeen. She has work permanently sited in the United Kingdom from Shetland to Southampton and has exhibited internationally. Her work is held in significant public collections including the University of St Andrews, the University of Dundee and the Scottish Poetry Library.
