Aimée Henderson (b.1981) is a Scottish painter who lives and works in Pittenweem. Her work is rooted in the radiance of light, an ongoing exploration of consciousness and the discovery of otherwordly realms within her paintings.
Graduating from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design in 2011, Henderson went on to complete an MFA at The Slade School of Fine Art in 2014. Exhibitions include Saatchi New Sensations, London; A Plot, Hatched By Two, Warbling Collective, London; I Hear A New World (invited residency artist); Villa Stuck, Münich and Kashual Happening, David Dale Gallery, Glasgow. In addition, Henderson is continually hosting a series of Light Painting exhibitions in her home studio.
Henderson is also part of the Spillage Fete Records collective and creates live visuals for the musicians. She has performed at Kunsthalle, Münich, Volkstheater, Münich, Cafe Oto, London and Hospitalfield, Arbroath. Her work is held in various collections including the V&A print collection, Paul Smith London and Oriel College, Oxford.
Being selected for RSA New Contemporaries 2012 was very important to me. I remember walking into my degree show space at Duncan of Jordanstone and seeing the RSA New Contemporaries plaque on my wall and feeling such immense gratitude for that recognition. There can be a feeling of ‘what next?’ when you leave art school and so that opportunity from the RSA and the freedom to make some new work to show in Edinburgh the following year was huge for me. I am so happy to further this connection and show here again in 2026.
