LAND TO LINE

An exhibition showcasing the work of Bronwen Sleigh RSA, a current member and tutor at Highland Print Studio.

Sleigh first came to Highland Print Studio as an artist-in-residence in 2006. During that residency, she explored the visible signs of the oil industry within the local landscape, examining the distinct contrast between heavy industrial structures and their surrounding natural environment.

Over time her practice has evolved to explore a wide range of architectural forms, often in urban settings. More recently, her focus has shifted back towards the relationship between the man made and the natural landscape, with a particular attention on hydroelectric dams. Located in remote settings, these imposing structures stand in stark contrast to their surroundings and have irreversibly altered the landscapes they inhabit. Sleigh examines the point at which natural terrain meets engineered form.

This exhibition brings together works spanning Sleigh’s career. Prints created during her 2006 residency are presented alongside more recent works, offering insight into the evolution of her practice over time.

Highland Print Studio is open to the public Tues – Sat 10am – 5pm (closed 1.30 – 2.30pm).
