The Carnegie Travelling Scholarship: A celebration of Andrew Carnegie and the Royal Scottish Academy

 

An exhibition of art from the collections of the Royal Scottish Academy and the Andrew Carnegie Birthplace Museum (ACBM), celebrating over 120 years of the Carnegie Travelling Scholarship.

 

For over 120 years, the RSA Carnegie Travelling Scholarship has supported artists in Scotland. This exhibition with showcase the range of artists awarded the scholarship from its inception to the present day. Featuring never before exhibited works from artists such as Joan Eardley and Elizabeth Blackadder, alongside sculptors, printmakers, architects and painters from the RSA and ACBM collections.

    Founded in 1928, the Andrew Carnegie Birthplace Museum tells the story of how Carnegie went for humble beginnings to the richest man in the world, and gave it all away.  Featuring the original weavers cottage in which Carnegie was born, alongside an magnificent art deco hall designed by James Shearer (RSA), the museum encourages a generation to follow in his footsteps, to dream big, and give back.
