Sir William Gillies RSA - A Love of Landscape

Celebrating the work of Sir William Gillies in the Scottish Borders and Lothians

Traquair's annual summer exhibition will this year celebrate the work of Sir William Gillies RSA in the High Gallery at Traquair House. William Gillies lived and worked for many years in Temple, MIdlothian and had a particular love and deep connection for the landscape of the Scottish Borders as well as the Lothians. He had a strong friendship with the writer, George Scott-Moncrieff, who lived near Traquair and some works from private collections will also be included alongside works from the RSA collection.

    About Traquair House Charitable Trust

Traquair is Scotland's Oldest Inhabited House and has a history spanning over 900 years. It has strong connections with Mary Queen of Scots and the Jacobites and remains a family home. There has been a strong comittment to showing contemporary art in the house and grounds for many years and the High Gallery was created in 2000 as a purpose built space to show both contemporary art and special exhibitions from our archives.
