Applications now open for the RSA Elizabeth Lornie Photography Award

We are delighted to launch the RSA Elizabeth Lornie Photography Award, a new opportunity for artists working in still photography in Scotland.

The award is funded by the Elizabeth Lornie Charitable Trust, formerly known as the Morton Charitable Trust. The trust previously supported a similar photography award that we’ve offered since 2006.

Born in Leith, Elizabeth Lornie was known for her generosity and this new award honours both her philanthropic spirit and her personal interest in Scottish charities. Elizabeth had a lifelong passion for photography and cine film and through supporting a new generation of photographers, we hope to celebrate her legacy.

The RSA Elizabeth Lornie Photography Award offers £5,000 for photographers to enable them to research, develop, and produce a new body of work in analogue or digital still photography. In addition to financial support, the award winner will have an exhibition of selected completed work at the Academy alongside other RSA award recipients, as well as an acquisition of work into the prestigious RSA Collections, a Collection of National Significance in Scotland.

We’re also working with partners to develop another opportunity for artists and photographers working in film and moving image, with more information on this to be announced in 2026!
