Junior Award - Second Prize Winner.

The artist: "Robert Kushner was the main inspiration for the artwork I produced; an artist who we studied thoroughly in class and whom I was extremely interested in. I very much enjoyed the still life unit on plants, during which we experimented with direct observation and did several drawings in black paint using some of the plants we had within the department. After this we started on our main composition, I firstly produced a geometric background to contrast with the organic shapes of the plants. The plants were then drawn over top and elaborated on using a variety of thick and thin lines. Personally, I think the placement of these plants and use of colour were definitely two of the most important and significant factors when trying to create a unique composition. Overall, I felt very pleased with my end result, and took great pleasure in appreciating and recreating some of Kushner’s incredible work."
