This Winter, we are pleased to present Nature turns in the Lower Galleries. Bringing together works in painting, print, drawing, photography and sculpture, the exhibition explores calm and solace in the natural world through winter scenes and subjects.

Winter can be seen as a season of contrasts, outwardly still and restrained yet quietly preparing for transformation. Nature turns reflects this dual character, inviting viewers to contemplate the quiet beauty of the season and the sense of renewal that comes with the turning of the year.

As we enter our bicentenary year, the exhibition marks the beginning of a year-long celebration that reflects on two centuries of artistic endeavour while looking forward to the future of art and architecture in Scotland.
