At the time of creating this piece I was experiencing a lack of enjoyment in school and I found myself expressing my emotions through my artwork. By using pencil, I was able to emphasise these feelings. I am delighted with how this piece turned out as I wanted the focal point to be myself which I captured through a more detailed face and a simpler background. Receiving the award was a lovely surprise and has increased my confidence in my ability. The encouragement from my teacher allowed me to push myself further in my art which I am grateful for.
