Provenance

These are early sketches and models. The site is on top of a west facing wooded cliff by the shore, with dramatic views towards Mull and the Corryvreckan. The plan form picks up these views while avoiding neighbouring buildings, and creates clearly defined and easily managed areas: the entrance courtyard, a private garden with a southern aspect, and a woodland garden. The site on the top of the cliff slopes up from south to north, and we have exploited this by forming a lower ground floor to keep the apparent height of the building lower. The roof follows the slope of the land and the building form respects the privacy of the neighbouring building to the south.
