"A proposal of a new public space next to Arne Jacobsen’s National Bank in Copenhagen would replace the current car park and would include a shelter with a café and an inhabitable quay on the water’s edge.
The general layout has been developed based on the views and orientation of the site. The overriding themes of materiality, tactility and composition have been enhanced by a 1:1 prototype of a flooring sample. The pavement is precast and altered on-site with machines to get a pattern that will be changing throughout the site. The concrete prototype has been developed with a pigment and stone aggregate to capture the changing of light and weather, seen in the two views on the exhibition, inspired by the stone cladding of the National Bank that constantly changes from a beige to a grey colour depending on the light conditions."
