Growing up in Ayrshire, ‘Cìr Mhòr’ on the Isle of Arran was a familiar sight to the photographer, with its recognisable pyramidal summit rising from the end of Glen Sannox. For over a decade Boyd has made a yearly pilgrimage to the peak of the mountain to drink from the waters of the well on hunter’s ridge. This particular image was made as the last winter snow began to melt from the peak, revealing the massive granite slabs of its north face.
