From the artist: My drawing is inspired by how colours can bring about an emotion. Using the medium of coloured pencil to capture the fine details of the subject, my art piece tries to convey indifference to things in the expression while provoking a sense of hope and purpose through the pose and placement of hands. Red is a vibrant colour with many connotations, but I wanted to focus on the positive, using its boldness to highlight the figure, with the ‘incomplete’ areas fusing harmoniously with the form.
