Regional Award - Senior North Winner

The artist: "In my piece I wanted to represent how I’ve used music during lockdowns and studying to remove and forget about the stress and worries that came with it. While making this portrait I wanted to improve my cutting techniques, varying thick and thin lines to show highlights and shadows, as well as becoming comfortable with leaving some areas solid to allow colour to be more prominent. Using different styles of mark making allowed me to separate the foreground and background of the piece, allowing the intricate cutting to be more visible.
I am pleased to win a prize with my piece as I enjoy creating and using lino, it has also given me the confidence to continue making prints for my advanced higher art and hopefully art school."
