Nicole studied her undergraduate degree at Gray’s School of Art, Aberdeen, graduating with a BA (Hons) in Fine Art Painting. Her work explores gender issues through a feminist critique, addressing the inequalities faced by women within societal standards, in specific regard to the simplification and dying importance of her being. By honing in on different materials and processes, she expresses her outlook on these matters. She uses collaged animal and object imagery to convey conversations adjacent to human experience.
Nicole has since gone on to study her MA in Fine Art at Gray’s School of Art. Her current practice focuses on Scottish culture and further feminist discussion. She enjoys engaging with feminist literature and examining the societal impacts on women. Her work now also looks inward at her own generation of women and friends, exploring how personal links of unity translate within her culture and surroundings. She translates this through traditional looming techniques, alongside painting, ceramics and more.
