Anna Lewis’ To the best of my recollection unfolds as a series of works responding to the quiet practices of hope, patience and care.

Anna’s practice is rooted in an ongoing exploration of presence, absence and longing. Through sculpture, sound, and writing, she creates moments of subtle tension—gaps or slippages that invite pause, encouraging viewers to double-take and reflect on what it means to exist in the world. At the heart of her practice is a commitment to the quiet precision of craft. Whether manifested as a physical object or a conceptual gesture, each piece is made with deliberate care, reflecting her belief in the value of thoughtful, well-honed work. Often small in scale and restrained in presence, her works emerge as quiet interventions—subtle yet resonant, offering space for slow contemplation and emotional attunement.

Anna is a Sculpture and Environmental Art graduate and recipient of the 2025 Newbery Medal, the Glasgow School of Art’s highest undergraduate award. She also won the School of Fine Art’s Essay Prize and was named a New Blood Emerging Artist.
