iorram' is a contemporary interpretation of a cottage in the Scottish Highlands, by Baillie Baillie Architects.The self-build project took an innovative low-tech, natural materials-led approach, using monolithic clay block walls -2013 a material which is simple to construct, durable, and completely plastic free. Scottish Douglas Fir, sustainably felled and milled in the Highlands, was used for all timber structural elements, wall linings, and details. This proposed exhibit aims to showcase the process, the physical materials used, as well as images of the completed work. It is comprised of a series of framed professional photographs - 2No. images by Alexander Baxter documenting the sourcing and processing of local timber, 2No. images by Murray Orr, documenting the completed building, as well as 1No. framed illustration of the project drawings. Accompanying the prints is a timber plinth, displaying a 1:25 timber model, and shelves below containing samples of the physical materials used, including a clay building block, and a section of a Douglas Fir beam.
