The re-imagined Swan Hunter fabrication shed will facilitate the exploration of technological advancements and innovations in manufacturing. The former 200-metre long dry dock will be transformed into a collaborative space to address challenges in manufacturing and hands-on production. Drawing inspiration from the rich archive of northeast England's industrial heritage, problem solving approaches will evolve over time, gradually building upon the legacy of the site's layered ruins. This educational initiative aims to inspire systemic change in how industry is approached, fostering practical learning experiences. The project seeks to enrich both the local community and engage visitors, promoting social cohesion through a new pedagogy whilst celebrating Wallsend's shipbuilding heritage.
