Alexander (Sandy) Fraser RSA was born in 1940. He studied at Gray’s School of Art in Aberdeen between 1958 and 1962. He went on to teach there, becoming Head of Painting for many years, until his retirement in 1997.

 

He lived and worked in Muchalls and was a renowned portrait painter with works in many public and private collections. His versatility as an artist is evident in his incorporating and mixing numerous elements including traditional portraiture, abstraction and representational landscapes.
