Cyrus Adrian Doherty. Glasgow School of Art 2023 graduate in Sculpture and Environmental Art. My practice and my piece, ‘What’s the point of Cyrus being alive?’ both deal with the burden, brutality and beauty of the human condition, discomfort, and transmutation. In sharing my own truth, it opens me to universal truths, those of grief, wellness, and it’s opposite. I believe that I was born an artist and I integrate with this conviction the more I create art and connect to all that is and all parts of myself and the self. I still hold the belief that being seen is my biggest fear but I choose, through performance and installation, to transmute this fear into an ever-changing sculpture that I embody as this human named Cyrus.
