How did the experience affect you as an individual?

The time to breathe, notice and slow down after a season of high paced academic rigour was really appreciated

What was the impact on your practice?

I began writing in Florence, which has continued to form a fundamental part of my practice. I still think of the River Arno and how it reflected the sky at night.

  • What would you say the long term impact has been on yourself and you work? I have a bolder appreciation...

What would you say the long term impact has been on yourself and you work?

I have a bolder appreciation for the necessity of boredom. To spend time with no responsibilities (besides determining whether I was having pizza or pasta for dinner) allowed me to move forward in thoughts in a way that is difficult otherwise. Remembering being there reminds me to make space.
