    Maximum Period

    Negotiable.

We aim to support the artist’s needs and are open to flexible working that supports their other responsibilities, professional or personal. This may look like agreeing a total number of days over the period of a year.

During the Fife school holidays we run Children’s Art Club (ages 4-11, 8am-3.30pm, Mon-Fri) for which we could provide free places to the artist’s children if that supported their participation.

    Other facilities

The self-catering artist accommodation in The Gardener’s Cottage has cooking and washing facilities, but no laundry.

Childcare available throughout the Fife school holidays for children aged 4-11 years on site at our Children’s Art Club.

Access to computer, Adobe package, film camera, mics, and lights, all trade tools (chop saw, drills, etc.), projector.

Public transport in North East Fife is poor. The staff are happy to help people get around but if artists have a bike/car, we’d recommend they bring it.

    Support offered

The staff team, including Director, would provide support to the artist. The tutors and other artists would also provide support if needed. We encourage any artist in residence to connect with as much of the programme as possible. If the artist wanted to attend a class, we’d support them to do so free of charge if there are places available. Everyone working on site has access to the training programme.

    Promotional support offered

Their work would be included on our website, social media, and newsletters. Occasionally we issue publications and print where it could be included.

    Exhibition or other opportunities

Forgan Arts Centre does not have a gallery or presentation space. However, it is well suited to talks, workshops and outdoor events which if it suited the artist we’d support them to programme.

Our Funding Development Office and Director would support with future funding application forms.

If appropriate, the artist might remain with us as a teacher/tutor within the programme of classes.

    Accommodation offered

Accommodation comprises a detached two-bedroom cottage with bathroom, WC, kitchen, living/dining room, and office/studio. The artist would have the house to themselves and/or invite collaborators/family as they wish. The accommodation has stairs and no lift. The main bathroom and bedrooms are upstairs. We can source accessible accommodation close to Newport-on-Tay, but it would not be on site. There is onsite parking and dedicated blue badge space. The cottage has its own garden.

    Alternative accommodation

    N/A

    Travel

Public transport in North East Fife is poor and we’d recommend bringing a car or bike. However, if the artist has neither, there is usually a staff member available to pick up/drop off from either Leuchars or Dundee Train Station.

    Accessibility

The main centre has level access at the front and back and there are some paths around the gardens. The main lawn is flat. The cottage accommodation is not accessible.

There is one disabled bathroom on the centre’s ground floor with baby changing facilities. There are lots of quiet spaces. Assistance animals are welcome. There is on-site childcare for children 4-11 years during the Fife school holidays.

There is always food, snacks, and drinks available for those who need it at the main centre and the cottage kitchen will have basic groceries. Staff will order a food shop for delivery from a local competitively priced supermarket for the artist.

    Insurance

Forgan Arts Centre has public liability insurance for most activities. If the artist wants to undertake a particular activity that might incur increased cover, or work with a vulnerable group with this activity, let us know.
