These drawings were part of a submission to the Glasgow Institute of Architects ideas competition to re-imagine the currently vacant Hamilton Mausoleum. The Hamilton Art Assembly proposed an artist residency and new gallery as a catalyst to re-imagine the Mausoleum as a space for temporary art exhibitions and installations that reflect on the history of Hamilton. Through our research we discovered several pertinent topics relating to the 10th Duke of Hamilton who built the Mausoelum, these ranged collection of art, the loss of historic buildings, and wealth accumulated through slavery. The residency would use these topics as themes to be explored through art, and in the process create a new collection based in Hamilton.
