During the summer of 2020 Ross Cameron cycled to all of Alexander Thomson’s remaining built works in the greater Glasgow area and undertook a sketch study. These illustrations examined the common themes to Thomson’s work, and examined how these evolved over time as he refined his Greek and Egyptian revival language within the Scottish context. The series; titled ‘Form to Threshold’ explored the silhouettes, fenestrations and structural expression of over 15 Thomson buildings. The three selected drawings are of the Grosvenor Building on Gordon Street, Salisbury Quadrant on Nithsdale Drive and the side door of the St Vincent Street Church.
