Elected RSA: 07 October 1829

The death of James Giles, R.S.A., took place on the 6th October. He was one of the early members of the Academy, and for a lengthened period was well known by the numerous works from his hand which annually appeared on the Exhibition walls. His pictures of deer, salmon, and such-like subjects were careful and characteristic, and are widely distributed.
