RSA New Contemporaries Exhibition
The Glenfiddich Artists in Residence programme was established in 2002 and has evolved into a highly acclaimed and culturally important annual programme that is fully funded by the family owners of Glenfiddich, William Grant and Sons. Each year, a number of artists from around the world are selected to take up a residency at the distillery and invited to take inspiration from their surroundings to produce new work. It has become widely acclaimed in the art world for providing artists with an original setting, space and community in which to work.
Over the past fourteen years over 100 artists from 20 different countries have each spent three months in residence at the distillery. At the end of the residence each artist leaves a piece (or pieces) of work created at Glenfiddich for inclusion to the growing collection held by William Grant and Sons.
The Glenfiddich Residency Award represents a major new prize for an emerging Scottish artist, providing him or her with significant financial support and a concentrated period of time in which to develop new work. It is one of a number of awards made in partnership with the RSA New Contemporary exhibition.
