A partnership between the Royal Scottish Academy and National Galleries of Scotland, in collaboration with the Universities of St Andrews, Dundee and Edinburgh, Ages of Wonder: Scotland’s Art 1540-Now tells the story of collecting Scottish art. The exhibition includes work from the RSA collections and from the collection of NGS and will, for the first time since 1910, unite the RSA works transferred to NGS with those remaining in the Academy Collection and those collected by the Academy up to the present day. With an intriguing mix of the historic and contemporary, works on display will include the masterpiece The Adoration of the Kings painted by Jacopo Bassano in 1540 to Exposed Painting Lamp Black deposited by Callum Innes as his Diploma Work in 2015, after his election as an Academician.  President of the RSA, Arthur Watson, will give a talk and Friends can enjoy a glass of wine and view the exhibition to the accompaniment of music from a flute quartet from the University of Edinburgh, Reid School of Music.
