Forming the Fragments: Philip Reeves RSA and his gift to the Academy

Philip Reeves RSA (1931-2017) was a true master in the arts of printmaking and collage in the twentieth century. There are few artists who have had such an influence on the development of an entire medium in the way Reeves did with printmaking in Scotland. The recent gift to the RSA from Philip’s studio, which contains finished prints and collages, objects of inspiration, sketchbooks, test pieces and artist’s equipment is a wonderful insight into the practice of this great artist.

Having worked closely with the RSA team and Past President Arthur Watson on the selection and documentation of this important gift, Collections Curator Sandy Wood will lead you on a journey that gives unique insight into the practice of Reeves, forming the fragments of his life and his art through the legacy he has left.
