Excursion to Dunfermline

Excursion to Dunfermline

Our first visit of the day will be to the spectacular new building housing the Dunfermline Carnegie Library, Museum and Art Galleries.  Designed by Richard Murphy RSA and opened in May, the Museum houses key artifacts which bring the remarkable story of this ancient kingdom to life, while the Gallery will be exhibiting works by many well-known artists, including William McTaggart, James McIntosh Patrick, Peploe, Hunter, Fergusson and Cadell.  After coffee in the new café we will have an introduction to the building and guided tour of both the Gallery and the Museum.  We then make our way to the nearby Fire Station Creative (www.firestationcreative.co.uk) for lunch which will be followed by a tour of the building and a look at some of the 20 artists’ studios on site.   From then, you are free to finish the afternoon with a visit to the Abbey Church or Dunfermline Abbey.
