Artbites with Marie Maclachlan

Marie Maclachlan, Principal Teacher of Art & Design, Inverkeithing High School
Having won the Brodies Inspirational Art Department Award in the 2017 Schools Art Award, Marie will talk about the amazing Dazzle Boat Coat Project from which the prize of £1000 was used towards materials. Based on the camouflaged ships used during WW2, 3rd year pupils created a dazzle boat coat which they collectively wore to walk across the Queensferry Crossing as part of the opening celebrations. This project was a conceptual walking sculpture organised by Kathryn Malcolm who works at Inverkeithing High and is directly linked to her ‘This Little Boat’ art project. Its main goal was to inspire the young people into appreciating their local heritage and the culture that is wrapped around the Forth. It has also encouraged the young people to help send an important message of peace around the world from art projects carried out thereafter.
