Over the last decade, a major drive of collections strategy has been to digitise the RSA’s sketchbook and library collections. Through page turning software, you can now access them here, on our website. We will be adding more as we create them so keep checking back here as the resource is grown.
Sketchbooks, albums and libraries of inspiration are an area of vital importance to the understanding and appreciation of Scotland’s artists and artistic heritage. These items have entered the collections by artists of the early nineteenth century, through members of every decade, to today’s emerging award winners. Large collections of sketchbooks entering through studio gifts and bequests, along with libraries of inspiration to the artists in question provide real insight into their work and influences. Our thanks go to Max Communications for their help in preparing our collections to be accessed in this amazing way.
