The RSA is a member led organisation.
The membership comprises 36 Academicians, 46 Associates, 4 Senior
Academicians and 5 Senior Associates from the disciplines of painting,
sculpture, architecture and printmaking.
The Academy has also appointed 20 Honorary Members, including HRH
The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.
The decision-making structure of the Academy is as follows :-

The
most senior decision-making body is the Assembly of Academicians.
The President, Secretary and Treasurer are elected annually and
together form the Standing Committee which meets once a month to
deal with routine business. The Council comprises the President,
Secretary and Treasurer and 10 other members selected in rotation.
The Council is responsible for the day-to-day management of the
Academy. It normally meets once every two months.
There are also up to 12 other committees which meet to discharge
specific functions e.g. Finance, Promotions, etc.

A
relatively small staff administer the Academy and organise its exhibitions,
competitions, prizes and funds.
