"If I could go anywhere ..... " the title of the exhibition which celebrates fiften years of Scotland's most prestigious art scholarship for young painters who have made the traansition from college to working environment.

Fifteen previous winners come together in the recently created Octagon and Cruciform galleries in the Royal Scottish Academy Building to provide an exhibition which demonstrates the strength in depth of the successful young painters in Scotland today.

Each year, the successful Scholarship winner was asked - "where would you like to go?"with Australia,Scandinavia, China, Japan, Europe and USA being the popular choices. Each year they returned from their chosen destination with a superb collection of sketches, notes, ideas and works which will be strong influence in the years to come.

The artists taking part in this exhibition are:
Claire Banks, Andrew Cranston, Michele David, Paul Furneaux, Mark Gilbert, Angus McEwan, Barry McGlashan, Derek McGuire, Lorna McIntosh, Moira Scott, Ian Scott, Charles Stiven, Edward Summerton, Janet Swailes.

The 15th anniversary of the Alastair Salvesen art Scholarship is being celebrated in the newly created Octagon and Cruciform galleries of the Royal Scottish Academy Building from 3 - 23 November.

All 15 Scholarship winners will take part in a group exhibition with the title "If I could go anywhere....". They were given the opportunity to do so as winners of Scotland's most prestigious Scholarship, open to young artists who have made the transition from college to working environment. Their selection of destinations has taken them to many continents and has provided them with sketch-books, ideas and experiences which will be with them for the rest of their lives.

Above all, this group exhibition demonstrates the strength of young talent in Scotland today.

Admission is free. Open 10am - 6pm daily.
