From very early in his career Demarco thoroughly, obsessively even, recorded his activities, meetings, projects and contacts. | Blind Sight 14 – 26 October 2004 @ RSA Gallery 9. ‘Northern Octave: Of lands Scot and Fin’ For the first time the Royal Scottish Academy are now presenting an exhibition of sound art! Following in the vein of new contemporary and innovative exhibitions held by the RSA, Blind Sight is an exploration of sound and study of the relationship between visual art and sound. The exhibition is curated by Eddie Summerton and Norman Shaw from Scotland and Annika Dahlsten from Finland. Comprising of 25 artists from Scotland and 25 from Finland Blind sight was originally exhibited at the VRC in Dundee and Artspace Titanik in Turku, Finland. Alongside creating a sound piece in the format of the CD, each artist also submitted a CD cover for display. The sound works will cover songs, sounds, stories, recordings and karaoke - evoking a range of feelings and provoking some unexpected reactions! |

| Delia Baillie - 'Solid Ground' 4 June – 4 July 2004 @ RSA Gallery 9. Delia Baillie is the winner of the 2003 Alastair Salvesen Art Scholarship, the largest independent art scholarship openly available in Scotland. Delia studied drawing and painting at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, graduating in 1999. With the £10,000 funding from the Salvesen Scholarship, Delia travelled to the United States to study the 'probability of chance' of seismic activity and naturally occurring land patterns on the West Coast. Travelling between Las Vegas and Mount Rainier in Washington State, Delia was intrigued by the 'gloss veneer of city life' in close proximity to these major landforms and the ever-present threat of nature's violent volcanic forces. |
