the Edinburgh International Festival this year, the Royal Scottish Academy
had delivered a dynamic selection of work by over sixty members and
their guests demonstrating the energy and vitality of living Scottish
Art at the beginning of the new century.</span></span></font>
<p><span class="main"><font face="Arial,Helvetica,Geneva,Swiss,SunSans-Regular"><span class="body text">This
show includes exciting new works by several recent graduates, works
by some more mature artists whose contributions look stunning in the
splendid, spacious galleries of the Royal Scottish Academy, and great
works by three of our Honorary members - Craigie Aitchison, Wilhelmina
Barns-Graham and john Bellany.</span></font></span></p>
<p><span class="main"><font face="Arial,Helvetica,Geneva,Swiss,SunSans-Regular"><span class="body text">We
are grateful to the Trustees of the National Galleries of Scotland for this oppertunity
to exhibit during the festival, to Baillie Gifford for their generous sponsorship
of CONNECTIONS 2000, to the Friends of the Royal Scottish Academy for their welcome
support, and especially to our guests who join us for this exhibition. We hope
they will show again with us soon.</span></font></span>
